How to Write the Perfect Headline Every Time

Headline News

Did you know that 8 out of 10 will read your headline but only 2 out of 10 will read your article?

Are you losing readers because of your headline?

Hi everyone! Today I am sharing all about headlines. For those of you who may not be able to guess, what I mean by headline is the title of your blog articles. Some say that your headline or title is the key to every articles success.

Can you believe that only 2 out of 10 people will read your article after reading your title? That statistic is from Copyblogger.

On average, 8 out of 10 people will read headline copy, but only 2 out of 10 will read the rest. This is the secret to the power of your title, and why it so highly determines the effectiveness of the entire piece.

It is clear how important the headline of each article is. The better the headline the more likely you are to attract people to your blog. You could have the exact information that every reader out there wants, but without the headline they may never find you.

I had originally intended this to be a one article kind of idea. During my research, I quickly realized that this is not a one article topic. I am very excited to announce that for the next few weeks we are going to be diving into headlines. From how to(s) to lists to the best ways to write headlines.

Checking In

I wanted to check in on how everyone doing with the blogging goals? We started off the year with an article on How to Set Goals for Your Blog and Achieve Them. Many of you shared your goals in the comments.

One part of achieving those goals is tracking them, which can be easily done when they are measurable. For me, I started last week off really excited. I was already a week ahead in my blogs and the next week was mapped out on how I would make the final stretch and achieve my blogging goal– which is to be 2 weeks ahead in all my blog posts.

And Then Came the Flu

Then, it happened. The flu hit me, my 13-month-old and lastly, my husband. We have been in survival mode for the past week and a half. I do have say that I LOVED already being ahead by a week because I was able to take some time to rest and get better.

Sometimes life is that way isn’t it? Just as we think we are about to conquer the world, something smacks us back down. The great thing about be smacked down is getting back up and this week, I have even more motivation to achieve my goal.

Do you have questions about headlines? Is there anything that you would like me to cover in these next weeks?

We are bombarded with so much information now that we have to be selective in what we take in and that makes headlines very important.

What plugin are you using to get your fonts different sizes? Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi Kim,
We are bombarded with an amazing amount of information, aren’t we?

We are not using a plugin for fonts. All fonts on our website and blog are controlled through CSS.

Thank you for taking the time to comment!
