How to set up a Business Page on Facebook
Have you taken advantage of social networking for your business? Research shows that social networking is an extremely valuable and effective viral marketing tool to promote your business. Setting up a business page on Facebook is free and will open a whole new avenue for you to connect with your clients. With 350,000,000 active Facebook users, this immense frontier is wide open for exploring. Below are graphical steps to illustrate how to set up a business page on Facebook.
-
Step One: If you do not have a personal Facebook page, set up one up first. After you have logged into your personal Facebook account, go to: Facebook Advertising Pages . Click the button: Create a page.
Step 2: Select a category or choose Brand, Product, or Organization or Artist, Band , or Public Figure. Fill out the “Name of Page” with your company or organization’s name and do not check the box: Do not make Page publicly visible at this time. (You will be able to edit and publish later.) The purpose of this page is to be open to the general public.
Step 3: Once the page has been created; click the “Become a Fan” button to become a fan of your own business page. Next, you can upload your company or organization’s logo and enter the relevant fields under “Info” tab. There is a plus sign next to the Info tab that will allow you to add more tabs like Photos, Links, Events and Notes.
Fans versus Friends
Facebook pages have fans as opposed to friends. When someone becomes a fan, they will receive your business page updates to their personal Facebook account. Imagine the possibilities. You can keep your clients informed of specials, sales and a host of pertinent information and connect more effectively.
After you have set up your business Facebook page, you may like to explore Facebook’s application directory. Popular business applications include Twitter and NetworkedBlogs that enable you to link to your business Twitter account and pull excerpts from your blog.
Once completed, promote your Facebook page by adding a link to your website, email signature and other traditional marketing to build your audience. As with any venture, the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it.
Facebook vanity URLs such as: www.facebook.com/yourcompany are available for those business pages with more than 25 fans. For more, see: Usernames: Facebook Pages
According to Hitwise, Facebook ranked number 1 with 47.68% of Web sites in the “Computers and Internet – Social Networking and Forums” industry category for the week ending January 16, 2010. Facebook clearly has an audience. With Facebook’s social networking marketing possibilities open to businesses and organizations, a business Facebook page is a free and comprehensive marketing tool to compliment your current marketing efforts.
