Scenes From Yesterday - The Way We Were - The 1960s

Kinney Shoes became "America's Family Shoe" Store in the 1960s. F.W. Woolworth Co. acquired the G.R. Kinney Co., Inc. in 1963, and the company was renamed: Kinney Shoe Corporation. Under the leadership of C.O. Anderson and Jim Stuart, Kinney Shoes experienced mushrooming growth as it moved into shopping centers and expanded into Canada and Australia.

The sixties also brought Flings (a new in-house brand of shoes for women) in 1964, Stylco in 1964, and Susie's Casuals in 1968. In 1965, the 12-week manager training program was formalized and implemented. The determination and commitment to excellence of the company's associates made it a retail industry leader.
