Have you been wondering why you should use YouTube to host your videos? Would you like to learn how to embed YouTube video into your WordPress blog or website?
This video was inspired by questions we have received from several of our readers. Those questions include how to utilize YouTube to upload videos and how to embed them into your blog or website.
Four reasons why to use YouTube to host your video blogs:
- Bandwidth
- Community
- User friendliness
- SEO Benefits
Below are the tutorials on how to upload and embed your YouTube videos.
How to Upload Your Video to YouTube
- Go to YouTube.com and sign in
- Click the Upload on the upper right side
- Click Select Files to Upload and Select your video
- Wait for your video to upload
- Use the video manager to edit and select your thumbnail picture
How to Embed Your YouTube video onto your website or blog
- Go to the video that you would like to embed on YouTube and click the Share link under the video.
- Click the Embed link.
- Uncheck the box “Show Suggested videos when the video finishes.”
- Copy the HTML code provided in the box.
- Paste the code into the HTML of your blog or website.
How to Stop the Mosaic At The End Of A YouTube Video
To stop the mosaic of photos showing at the end of your embedded YouTube video:
- Option One: Before you copy the HTML from YouTube, be sure to uncheck the box “Show Suggested videos when the video finishes.”
- Option Two: If you have a video already embedded, add the following to the URL in the HTML code:
?rel=0
For example, the code to the YouTube video above is: https://www.youtube.com/embed/sHUw4vHqK_Y. Simply add the “?rel=0” at the end of the URL in the text editor so that it looks similar to: https://www.youtube.com/embed/sHUw4vHqK_Y?rel=0

Thank you for this helpful information! I am just now venturing into making videos for my blog. I appreciate the tips! 🙂
Deanna,
Good luck with your video blogs! It has been an experience to say the least for me.
Hi, I just loaded my first YouTube video on my site: metothepowerofwe.com/me-to-the-power-of-we/mindset-minutes-gratitude/
It does the mosaic thing. I tried to add the ?rel+0 and it still is doing it. Any suggestions?
Hi Deanna, Christine asked me to follow up with you on how to get rid of the mosaic at the end of your YouTube video. I took a look at the source code on your page and do not see the ?rel=0 at the end of the URL. Please try embedding the following code. You can copy the code below and paste it into your text editor:
By the way, great video!
I’ve always put YouTube behind, never been fond to it simply because I didn’t realize what a great resource this is. Until now. Thanks for pointing that out.
Petro,
I’m so glad your found the tips helpful and applicable! 🙂
What cool tips and they come at the perfect time for me! I’m just posted my first youtube video today and these tips will come in handy for me! thanks for sharing!!
Julie,
It’s so great to hear you are starting your video blogging adventures. What has been your favorite part of the video blogging experience?
Thanks for sharing. The one step I currently don’t do is Uncheck the box “Show Suggested videos when the video finishes.” However, I’ll now remember to do this when I’m embedding a YT video next time.
Carol,
That’s great to hear. Thank you for commenting.
What a simple and effective video highlighting the benefits of YouTube. I didn’t know all that about bandwidth and I feel I now need to know more. The best tip though is how to avoid having the mosaic at the end. Top tip, thanks!!
Phoebe,
Thank you so much! Simple and effective are two of my favorite adjectives. 🙂
Christine – another great video. I hope you’re enjoying making the videos because it does look as though you are. I also really like how you make it easy to follow and understand and don’t assume things. Nice.
I have a question: Which plugin are you using to bet the tabs on the Bio box? It looks neat.
Caroline,
I still feel like I’m getting my feet wet with these video blogs. I’m so glad you find the video easy to follow and understand because that is a one of my top goals. This plugin is a premium plugin called sanciest author box by Code Canyon. Here is the link,

This is very helpful. Thanks. I shared it to my facebook friends.
Susan,
Thank you so much for sharing! I really appreciate it.
Thank you for this! Now if I can only get clients to make videos!
Sonja,
No problem. I’m glad you found it helpful. 🙂
This is great! I never realized it was so easy to use YouTube to embed my own videos into blog posts. One of my blogging goals this year is to add videos to my blog so this will be a huge help. Thanks so much!
Elizabeth,
It sounds like 2014 will not only be the year of the blog but also the year of the video blog. You are so welcome and I’m glad you found the video useful.
Been wanting to do this….it is on my goal list for the year and this I think will simplify it. I had no clue, thanks for the share.
Margaret,
No problem! Good luck with your video blogging adventures. 🙂
