October’s Life Lesson From Toddlerhood

Are you looking for some inspiration today?

Is it hard for you to just enjoy?

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today, here in Michigan it is a beautiful fall day. The sun is shining and there isn’t a cloud in the sky. Finally the second Tuesday of the month is here and that means it’s Life Lesson From Toddlerhood. This is our series that is inspired by my 21-month-old toddler.

Toddlers have a very interesting way of looking at life. If you have ever had a baby grow up, you know how precious these first years are. Even if you haven’t had your own little one, any toddler will do. Toddlers have a way of making our days long but our years short.

Once a month, I share about the most recent life lesson I’ve learned from my little lady. These articles are meant to put a smile on your face and inspire you. For only one day every month, we take time to stop what we are doing and read for enjoyment.

It’s Time to Just Enjoy

Leaves everywhere are changing and fall fashion is in full swing! While the little lady and I were on our run this morning, I was amazed at how beautiful today is. So, we decided to take some time and just enjoy the beautiful day. With so much on my plate, it’s hard to take the time and let the little lady out of her stroller. Once she was out though, she took full advantage.

The little lady walked around looking at all the flowers, saying “Touch it, Touch it”. She pointed to the sky and to the trees with a huge smile on her face. When we got home she had her first ever bowl of SpaghettiOs. I remember liking SpaghettiOs, but I’ve never seen a person enjoy something SO much.

My little lady is a really good eater. Sometimes she eats as much or more than I do. She loves eating and has no shame. My husband’s friend was watching her eat once and put it perfectly, “Can you imagine what it’s like trying something for the first time, all the time?”

I Rarely Eat Like That

Have you ever been out to dinner and wanted to order that dessert. With the support of the people you’re with, you order that wonderful dessert. Once it gets to your table and it’s sitting in front of you, you suddenly start doing the calculation in your head. “How long do I have to run tomorrow to really give myself permission to enjoy this dessert?” So, you take a bite with a twinge of guilt.

How often do we give ourselves permission to just enjoy? Whether it is dessert, the great outdoors, or that first cup of coffee in the morning, we need be more like a toddler. When it comes to relaxing and enjoying life, we are our own worst enemy.

So, for this month’s life lesson from toddlerhood, pick something that you love. It can be coffee, a walk, cooking, reading, blogging or anything that you love and enjoy it. This little challenge could take you as little as 5 minutes.

I would love to hear about what you are going to enjoy today, so please don’t forget to share with me in the comments section below. Have a wonderful week everyone, I’ll see you next week. 🙂

    Another great article Christine!

Don’t miss out on those moments with your little one, they grow up so fast, says she how has a 14 year old and can’t believe how fast all those years flew past!

I have learned a lot in the last year and enjoying the little things and things I would have previously rushed through are important again. I am glad to have remembered how important these things are, and reading your article reminded me that I am doing it right. Thanks!
