How to Reduce Photo Sizes for Blogs

R & R Web Design TutorialHave you uploaded photos to your blog and after a number of months, received a notice from your web hosting provider that the disk space for your hosting package was reaching the allotted disk space limit?

One reason that the storage space is being used up quickly may be due to not optimizing photos for the web before uploading them to the server. If you have a Windows PC, you may not need expensive photo editing software to optimize photos and reduce the photo sizes. The following is a visual tutorial to help you reduce photo sizes for a blog.

In this tutorial, we will start with a 1.19 MB photo and reduce it to 84.9 KB. Note: 1024 Kilobytes (KB) = 1 Megabyte (MB)

Step One

Locate the photo on your computer that you would like to optimize, highlight it and right click. You will see the programs on your computer that you are able to open the photo with. Choose and click: Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
